As research continues to suggest a link between heading in football and the development of neurodegenerative disease authorities have begun to act. New guidelines have been introduced at every level of the game to limit heading.

However, with heading set to remain part of competitive fixtures, ensuring players are trained in order to head the ball safely remains an issue. Manchester-based virtual reality company Rezill has developed a new training system, Rezzil Player 22, that creates a low impact training environment and could become key to supporting players develop safe and effective heading techniques.
